Legal bookkeeping for law firms, and nothing else.

Legal bookkeeping is all we do. We look after statutory trust accounts, office accounts, payroll and BAS for solicitors, barristers and conveyancers — and we keep your records in the shape an external examiner expects to find them.

What we look after

The whole of your practice's books.

01

Statutory trust account maintenance

Ledgers kept current and reconciled to the bank every month, without exception.

02

Quarterly Statutory Deposit

Monitored through the year, calculated at each quarter end, reported to you before it falls due.

03

Discrepancies and reconciliation issues

Where the ledger and the bank disagree, we find why and set out how to correct it.

04

End of month process and reporting

A consistent monthly close, with reports that tell you where the practice actually stands.

05

Liaison with your external examiner

We deal directly with your examiner and auditors, and prepare the file before it's asked for.

06

Office account, BAS and IAS

The business side of the firm kept accurate and lodged on time with the ATO.

07

Payroll and superannuation

Solicitors, paralegals and support staff paid correctly, with STP and super handled.

08

Software training and support

We train your team to enter trust transactions properly in LEAP, Smokeball and Clio.

Worth knowing, if you practise in NSW

The Statutory Deposit is a quarterly obligation here.

Unlike most states, New South Wales requires the Statutory Deposit to be recalculated every quarter as your trust balances move. It is the requirement general bookkeepers most often overlook — because they have never had to think about it.

It moves with your balances

The amount isn't fixed. As trust money comes and goes through the year, the figure you're required to hold on deposit changes with it.

It is a compliance matter

Getting it wrong isn't an accounting error to tidy up later. It sits with the Law Society, alongside everything else attached to a practising certificate.

We track it, then tell you

We monitor the balances, calculate the figure each quarter and tell you what needs to happen — ahead of the deadline, not after it.

Why a specialist

A trust account is not a business ledger.

Most bookkeepers are excellent with a business ledger and have never touched a trust account. The rules governing money held on behalf of clients are different, unforgiving, and enforced by the Law Society rather than the ATO.

A reconciliation left undone is not an accounting problem to catch up on. It is a compliance problem, and it is attached to a practising certificate.

That is the whole reason this practice exists. We don't take on general small business work, because staying current in one narrow field takes the attention that would otherwise be spread across many.
